We are looking for an experienced contemporary dancer who has a love of nature and wild spaces, to contribute to the creation of two site responsive dance films.

The films will respond to nature stories shared by children and young people from Great Ormond Street Hospital and a Camden primary school. You will join us part way through the project, from March to August 2023.

A fee of £1,825 for 10.5 days is offered for this position. imprint will contribute to travel expenses incurred throughout the project.

About the Role
This role is for an experienced dance artist who is confident exploring in nature, and has a sensitivity in translating the ideas of others through the body.

The role will include:

  • On location creation and filming with the imprint creative team
  • Participating in a creative exploration day with a storyteller and the imprint creative team
  • Performing and supporting a day of interactive Immersive Events at a primary school in Camden
  • Participating in the creative evaluation at the end of the project

imprint is looking for someone with the following skills, interests and qualities:

  • Training in a contemporary dance style
  • An ability to move in a free, non-stylised way
  • A readiness to translate thoughts and ideas through the body
  • Confidence in knowing your own body and being able to respond to and with others 
  • A keenness to collaborate creatively and explore ideas with others
  • An interest in nature and the outdoors
  • Open to exploring in wild places at different times of the day and night
  • Good interpersonal skills and a sensitivity in communicating and supporting others
  • Enjoys process
  • Creative generosity and physical honesty
  • Comfortable responding to non-dance specific stimuli
  • A sensitivity in translating the ideas of children and young people
  • A respect for others, in particular, the needs of Disabled individuals
  • An ability to work within timeframes and be adaptable to change
  • Being comfortable with the unknown
  • Patience, humour and playfulness
  • An attitude of “let’s”
  • Happy to dance in the wind and rain!

The Project
Nature Inside is a participatory dance and film project devised with children and young people, three contemporary dancers and a composer. Nature Inside is a commission from GOSH Arts supported with a National Lottery Project Grant from Arts Council England. The content of the films will authentically respond to participants’ connections with their wild spaces, interpreting their real and imagined experiences – and their movement vocabulary.

  • Creation and filming on location (not negotiable)

    • Friday 12 – Saturday 13 May 2023
  • Delivery of an Immersive Event day (not negotiable)
    • Tuesday 27 June 2023
